CASTLE Architectural Designs Ltd. strives to create elegant and affordable designs which are tailored as closely as possible to the client’s brief.
We do not have a ‘house style’ or a book of ‘standard designs or plans’, as we believe in the right design to suit the clients brief and the proposed location. We believe good design makes good economic sense.
We are a small and therefore very friendly and approachable practice that offers high quality design services at what we believe to be a reasonable, and affordable price.
We are committed to providing a flexible approach to our client’s needs, and are a registered practice with the Chartered Institute of Architectural Technologists ( CIAT ).

Fortunately, we listened to advice from friends and contacted Matt to help us secure Outline Planning permission on a parcel of land that we knew would be difficult to get through the process. It was only through his local knowledge of the planning process and strength of argument required, that we were able to secure both outline and then detailed planning for a design we wanted; which has now allowed my partner and I to build a family home for us and our children. I can honestly say, there hasn't been one aspect that we've been unhappy with - always available on the phone, responsive to e-mails/messages, given us sound expert advice and challenged us on some of our design ideas for the house. Would not consider any other architect in the area, if we were ever to go through the process again.
Our Background
CASTLE Architectural Designs Ltd. was established back in January 2004 by Matthew Edwards MCIAT, who at the time had already gained some 9 years practical experience of working in a well established and very busy private architectural practice, where he gained a wealth of knowledge from both the company directors, and their associates throughout his time there.
Matthew left school and began his journey into the construction industry by enrolling at Ceredigion College of Further Education in Cardigan, where he completed a two year OND ( Ordinary National Diploma ) in Construction. From here Matthew went on to enrol on an HND ( Higher National Diploma ) at the University of Glamorgan, in South Wales, which he successfully completed.
Upon gaining the required qualifications, Matthew left his student days behind and moved forward to employment in a very busy local private practice, where he enjoyed working for some 9 years before deciding the time was right to spread his wings and make the move into the world of self employment.
Matthew applied for his full membership of the Chartered Institute of Architectural Technologists ( CIAT ), having been both a student and associate members of the institute for some years. He met the very stringent entry requirements of CIAT, by proving his knowledge and competency in his chosen field, and both attended and passed the formal interview before the board of examiners to progress to and gain his current FULL Chartered membership status of the governing body in March 2004, enabling him to use the designation of MCIAT.
